    Medieval dark beer

Texels Ruuge Monnik is a full and creamy medieval dark beer. Inspired by a 14th century recipe from Texels monks, the brewers of the Texelse Beer Brewery have managed to brew a fantastic beer. The distinct character is a time travel of taste to the rich beer history of Texel. Our unique 'Gruyt mixture', including the addition of Texel Alexanders, gives this beer a spicy accent. A pure Texels beer, with an exceptional twist.

      SPECIAL STORY

The beer is inspired by a 14th century recipe of the rough Ludinga monks on Texel, which emerged during research for the book 'Int Texel gebrouwen', about seven centuries of brewing history on Texel. The book about seven centuries of brewing and drinking beer on the island originated from a collaboration between the Wads Smaakhuus, the Texelse Courant and the Texelse Bierbrouwerij.

      Delicious with

Ruuge Monnik goes best on the terrace with a good view. In addition, ask the manager what savory snacks he has to offer, because a real monk can fast, but always has his shelf well stocked.
